  • Nurturing parenting program

Nurturing Parenting Programs provide parents with effective behavior management tools and encourage the development of healthy parent-child relationships.  These family-centered classes are designed to strengthen families through education in empathy and caring, responsibility and discipline, and family growth.  The Nurturing Parenting Programs are dynamic and exciting, and are proven to buildcaring, non-violent families.  One of the exciting aspects of the Nurturing Parenting Program classes is that the children are learning their own skills while parents focus on parenting styles.  Families then come together to practice what they have learned.

Our comprehensive Nurturing Parenting Program classes run for 17 weeks.  Classes are available for:

    • Parents of children ages 0-5
    • Parents of children ages 4-12
    • Parents of adolescents

Please call (719) 520-1019 if you would like more information or you would like to register for an upcoming class.

We also offer secondhand smoke prevention training to any community professionals who work with families and would like to know more about encouraging their clients to reduce children's exposure to secondhand smoke.

  • Education and outreach

Child abuse and neglect are community-wide issues, but they are preventable.  Pikes Peak Family Connections works to bring the facts about abuse and neglect and information about parenting options to the community, along with information about our prevention and treatment programs.  We offer presentations at area schools, at service organization meetings, and at other community agencies.  We also attend community resource events to disseminate information and to answer questions.  Our bumper stickers with our well-known message are seen on cars throughout the Pikes Peak Region.

NEVER HURT A CHILD!  NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER!

During National Child Abuse Prevention Month (April), Pikes Peak Family Connections hosts its annual Child Abuse Prevention Rally to heighten awareness ofthe devastating consequences of child abuse and neglect on children, families, and communities.  This family-friendly event includes entertainment by local children's groups, informational booths sponsored by community resource agencies, and family-oriented activities.  A special part of the rally is a memorial to the children whose lives were tragically cut short during the previous year due to abuse or neglect.

Please call (719) 520-1019 ext. 1016 if you would like to schedule a presentation or to receive literature or bumper stickers.

nurturing parenting program participant testimonials

"Before I attended the Nurturing Parenting Program, I can honestly say I was clueless about being a mom...During the class, I learned why my child acted in a certain way and what options I had as a parent to deal with her actions.  I also received emotional support.  I learned about other resources available to me, which relieved a world of stress.  If it weren't for the Nurturing Parenting Classes, I would probably still be clueless.  This program is an essential part of parenting."

kpc kids' Place client testimonials

"Earlier this year I was in a difficult place.  I finally divorced my abusive husband and took out a restraining order, but he violated it repeatedly.  I was so afraid he'd hurt our son.  I needed to find a safe place for us to live, but I wanted my son out of harm's way while I looked.

I couldn't believe it when I found out about KPC Kids' Place...the staff was so kind and made my son and me feel so safe.  I could rest easy knowing my son was safe and well cared for while I worked to make a new life for us.  I don't know where we'd be without KPC Kids' Place."
